TELLER (1 POST)

Key Roles

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Receiving, verifying, and accurately posting members' cash and cheque deposits over the counter.
  2. Processing and posting loan repayments into members' loan accounts.
  3. Processing cash withdrawals upon positive member identification and confirmation of sufficient account balances.
  4. Maintaining teller cash holdings within the approved limits and in accordance with the Society's policies and procedures.
  5. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all daily cash transactions.
  6. Ensuring the safe custody of cash, documents, and other valuables before handing them over to the designated custodians.
  7. Ensuring compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and all internal policies and procedures.
  8. Handling member information with the highest level of confidentiality and ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act, 2019, and the Sacco's data protection and privacy policies.
  9. Reconciling daily cash transactions and surrendering any excess cash above the authorized teller limit to the Treasury.
  10. Processing and accurately posting agency banking transactions, including M-Pesa and other payment channels.
  11. Performing any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. A Diploma in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Cooperative Management, or CPA Part I or II or its equivalent.
  2. A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline will be an added advantage.
  3. At least one (1) to two (2) years' experience in a teller, cashier, customer service, or banking environment.
  4. Experience in a Sacco, microfinance institution, or commercial bank will be an added advantage.
